Best use case for ordinals/inscriptions is a decentralized version of mtg in my opinion. Fork x mage to verify you actually own the deck you are playing with (each card being an inscription) and make the game free from centralized control but still have some scarcity. Not just full proxy.

there's a shitcoin nft auto battler that is kind of like MTG called splinterlands. it's a few years old and a pretty fun game but they went crazy with the wEb3tOkEnoMiCs

Why not? Everyone can mint any card they want to build a deck. Paying transaction fees to mint means theres actual skin in the game and cards can be traded/sold. All that's needed is a client like x mage to recognize and check the validity of the cards.
