1% wasn’t enough and 3% was too much. At 2% the masses don’t notice it happening. one of my favorite ridiculous arguments for inflation is the worry that a deflationary currency will make everyone wealthy and there will be nobody left to do the menial work, which is a completely theoretical, arrogant and unfounded concern of the wealthy. Just stack sats and clean your own bathroom, do your own yard work, wash your own car, no? Or maybe, if everyone was wealthy, one could get a nice bit of change for doing that menial work, in other words, maybe a deflationary currency would cause enormous pay raises for those willing to do it (many don’t mind it).
