What’s the deal with “real ID” driver’s licenses in the US?

The deal is nobody is applying for them, so they get pushed further and further into the future

I don’t even understand the proposed benefit… Are they wanting to stop accepting standard IDs for domestic flights eventually?

This real ID thing was approved after 9/11 but they’re only trying to implement it now for some reason 🤷🏻‍♂️

I think it’s been pushed until some time in 2025, if I remember correctly.

Personally, I have my passport so I’m not going to apply for it until they stop making it harder to get than the regular ID.

They are biometric national ids. You know how in old nazi movies they say "show me your papers, please"? Well the real id is your papers

Whoa actually was totally missing that. I gave sex/hair color/eye color/height/weight. Are additional biometrics needed for real ID?

Probably fingerprint and iris scan too
