How can I verify those numbers? Would be a handy stat to use when I’m asked ‘why Bitcoin’

There it is! Didn’t even fact check it but was ready to bet the numbers were accurate. Standard fiat currency!

value_now = value_start / ((1 + inflation_rate) ** (year_now - year_start))

So for, 100k from 2006 to 2025 assuming a 2% inflation rate, we get

100_000 / ((1 + 2 / 100) ** (2025 - 2006)) = ~£70k

The guy had a perfect chance to say they’ve gotten “pounded” and said “screwed” instead. Almost as disappointing as the fiat debasement itself.
