I usually find music to be too much of a distraction when focus is needed.

Exactly, I use it for a distraction.

Yeah I can focus more on the exercise

During lifts I don’t even hear it, even if it’s a good track, but I reckon lifting without it would be too quiet. I’d probably end up whistling or something random.

So far, I have resisted getting AirPods, and I leave my phone behind, but I'm practically the only one in the gym that's not in their own separate world.
