I don’t agree. Some people are like that, sure, but the OP hasn’t written anything that suggests to me that he has that mindset.

His reaction to the global feed, if you’re new here, is very understandable. There is some heinous stuff out there.

It’s a mindset shift for most people to learn that we can (and must) control the content we consume. Our society has been conditioned to take whatever is served up with a dopamine hit.

If someone is showing up to nostr this early, that’s a huge start. “The first step is realizing there’s a problem” and all that.

Nostr is in a stage, in my opinion, where nurturing new users and helping people get accustomed to a new way of engaging is crucial to growing this network.

"+ There is basically no real content here. 90% of Post are just crypto spam."

The guy is lazy and not very smart. Waste of time. He won't last.

To be fair, if you follow nobody and have default global relays, it looks a bit like that. Airdrop spam and “free sats” LNURL scams everywhere.

I’m not going to write him off - he’s brand new. (There’s someone in another set of replies who does seem fundamentally opposed to putting in any effort, and in that guy’s case I’m more inclined to agree with you!)

But here it feels like someone is articulating a legitimate onboarding flaw. And currently, our best solution is community support. Hopefully more of it can happen client-side in future
