You could start a private relay...give it to your family members... Everyone in family uses keys that only use that relay...and now you have a little family social media with no centralized entity involved and can choose whichever client you personally want to use to interact with family. Pretty incredible to think about.

The applications really start expandijg from here...imagine you run 3 private relays...one for your family...one for your friends...one for your neighborhood...
The possibilities are endless. I was thinking the same over the weekend. Nostr eliminates all other social platforms and messengers through posting or DMs. Just need an easy way for non tech people to keep their keys segregated so that the dont dox the relay by using the keys in a public instance. You can whitelist writing at the moment by the looks of it but not reading.
Seems like a client could be made with this kind of user friendliness. Perhaps say i could be a guardian to my noob family or friends...setting the relays for them. Now i can even control the relays my kids are on, say just the Sesame Street and Bill Nye relays + the family relay. Now i have admin control to turn the relays off for sleep automatically at 9 😮
