The Budapest Memorandum is an agreement signed by the United States and Ukraine. This agreement offered Ukraine assurances regarding its sovereignty and territorial integrity in return for giving up their nuclear arsenal. The United States pledged to respect Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity and agreed not to use economic pressure to influence Ukraine’s politics. In 2025, the Trump Administration removed it from the White House website.
