Love me some double reed
Before they started, the guy came around to get up close with the instruments. I got to play it, four separate notes, I think. I've never played any instrument but now consider myself a bassoonist.
Nice. I like the sound of them and oboes as well, though they have a steeper learning curve than most instruments, so not great to hear beginners (eg in high school)
I agree about the sound, full, rich, fills the room. I know nothing about music but that's my take. I can confirm about beginners sounding bad, my four notes were a very sick cow.
