I think we are keeping it simple tbh; only the innovations that are the most valuable will be proliferated across the clients competing for us to use them.
The end result are features that "just work". Nostr is one of the simplest protocols in its essence. The more we want to do with it (like having note quoting be standardized across clients) the more coordination needed.
Simple feature request -> complex coordination & vetting -> simple end features we love.
