If we are the only life in the universe then that makes an airtight case that we are subject to a higher plane of existence and this "infinity" was created for our benefit.

If we are not the only life in the universe then it is highly likely the aliens have planted us here, probably through genetic engineering, and are monitoring us but largely leaving us alone intentionally.

If we were planted here, then the "aliens" most likely do not exist entirely in biological form and are capable of not only laying dormant for long periods but have indefinate lifespans. Their technology likely is so far advanced we can't fathom it and they may be more like Galefreyan timelords with nearly infinitely advanced technology compared to ours, than aliens like stargate, star trek, or star wars.
