How do, #nostriches?

I've been focused more on IRL stuff the past week.

I bought a new vehicle, a Honda Element. (2006 EX, MT, AWD with 260k miles on it, but generally very well maintained and with no appreciable rust.) It needs some work and a lot of cleaning. I have been learning it as I check it out and cleaning everything as I go. That's taken up quite a lot of my time. It's easy to work on. The only two things that I don't really care for are the fuel consumption (compared to my Fit) and that the seats, while generally comfy, have no side bolsters and the body thing handles well enough to be fun, but it's less fun when you're at risk of sliding off the seat. πŸ˜‚

The heat finally kicked in, hitting hard and fast. I'm tolerating it better now that I'm down 45-50lbs, but gosh, I hate heat and humidity. The good thing about it is that I can now finally get to installing the next two solar panels on my trailer. A couple of weeks ago I had leaned the remaining panels off the end of my trailer (facing roughly west) and hooked them up. I've seen some fairly ridiculous peak power input with that really unoptimized setup. Before it got hot, I was running my S9 at night at a reduced watt target, then letting the solar charge the battery pack and a few days, I got a drained pack topped off pretty handily. "Free" mining is pretty great, but I can't run it in my trailer unless I can figure out what to do with the heat, since it's definitely AC season now.

My trip to summit Mt. Katadin has mostly been figured out. I'll have two guys coming with me that have actually made it up the mountain. I've been putting in miles, even in the heat, to get ready for that. I am hoping to get out on a much more challenging trail this weekend, though, as I need to get my feet used to highly variable elevation changes on big rocks. Mt. Katadin is, towards the top, more mountaineering than anything that resembles hiking.

I'm trying to stick with carnivore, but it's blackberry season and my neice comes over to visit and gives me blackberries, and I'm not going to turn them down. ☺️

I think that's it for an update. I've got a London broil on the grill and I'm hungry. I don't think I got enough fat yesterday, so I'm extra hungry today.

Tata!

Loved my Fit (it was my first new car), and love our '06 Ellie the Element! I wish Honda would make the Fit again, I'd get another in a heartbeat.

Congrats on the weightloss!! As a person who lost 60 lbs, I can confirm the heat just isn't as bad anymore. (Note to self, get your shit together and get those rebound pounds back off...) Can't wait to hear about your hiking adventure, sounds amazing.

They do still make the fit, they just aren't importing them into the US anymore. Grrr...

I still have ~50 to go to get to my primary goal. I'm not in a rush since I want it to stay off once I get there. If I keep losing after that, great. If not, that's fine, too. Now I know how to eat better. I know more about what my body actually needs. I'll still eat things I shouldn't, but... I know I can do that on occasion and as long ah I'm not too stupid, it'll be fine.

But yeah, not feeling like death when it's above 80 out is a switch and makes life in the summer not suck so much.

πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ You people and your mid-eighties hot weather is so sweet. I joke, it gets in the 60s or low 70s here and I'm looking for a light jacket, great for my yarny stuff wearing. Give me low to mid 80s and about 70-80% humidity.

Well they need to import them again. Surely they'd sell like 7 or so, lol.

The thing "diet" people never understand is that it is a lifestyle change, put the right fuel in and amazing comes out. So happy you've made such progress!! It's a marathon, not a sprint.

If I could find the side of a mountain that maxes out at about 75... That would be heaven.

I agree! But supposedly everyone in the US wants small SUVs. And, well... Look at what I bought... πŸ˜…

Yeah. But, the reason why this has stuck for me is because it is actually demonstrably less hassle. I eat once a day. I cook on one cast iron pan or grill outside. I have one plate, knife, fork, and cup to wash a day. (I really, really, really hate washing dishes...) I don't need much kitchen stuff. I have more time. I feel better. It's a pretty huge shift.
