The lack of echo chamber is the only reason I'm here. Mastodon is a degenerate furry echo chamber, Twitter is a political wankfest, and Facebook is just social cancer.

You are confusing mastondon.org (an instance) or possibly Mastodon (an app) with the protocol (Activity Pub, or AP). There are legit criticisms of AP, mainly that most normies have to get an account on a 3rd party server (which can then forge posts from them). But "furry echo chamber" would refer to a particular server.
For example, I have accounts on qoto.org (admin is a free speech advocate, most users are into science, although plenty of anti-globalist politics as well) and llamarific.social (admin is a Christian).
Also, truth.social is a Mastodon instance with federation turned off (boo!).
