Maybe I misunderstand you, the number three is an important 'holy' number in the Catholic faith, and is throughout the bible. The trinity is made up of three, there were three gifts of the wisemen, peter denied Jesus three times, the sign of the cross is broken down to be made up of three parts, etc...
