I think that even if you have your own keys, there is still some risk.. At some point you need to connect to the Bitcoin highway, and that on-ramp is connected.. But, cold storage is the way to go.

That’s pretty much the point I was trying to make but I’d accept a non custodial hot wallet if they aren’t starting big
