fwiw florisboard in another foss option that does a pretty decent job mimicking swype. not perfect by any means but worth a trial.

Funny, even though I use SwiftKey, which was an early-ish swype option, I never got used to typing that way. Also bad at gestures on any platform. For me I think it is more just consistency in layout, possibly even more important for hunt/peck. Also knowing where special characters are at. I don't even use auto-complete a lot, so could do without that. Will be fun to see some FOSS options, but not above paying for the solution if it really fits my needs well.
Nice to see another Florisboard user. Just an FYI they also appear to be a lot closer to implementing an NLP for predictions now.
