Democratic campaign could work.

If you change the party name and don’t adamantly announce that trump is the bad guy, then you lose all of the votes from that group of die hards. As sad as it is, I think they’d need those votes that will only vote for the democratic label.

In other words, it might not be worth the risk to change names because of how passionately that label is tied to the moral high ground and defeating trump. It’s gross I know but political strategy is gross as well.
