I see this comment often. Do I need to create local notification for this purpose as well when someone posts something? So that tapping on it takes the user directly to the post

I’m not sure why this happens … damus should retry until it succeeds. This only thing I can think of is if the OS kills the process before it reconnects. Perhaps I should be saving and loading the PostBox so that no events are ever lost.

Hello

#[3] I dont think local notification makes sense here.

#[2] - are you on wifi, or cell service when you try to post?

I said that because Twitter has a notification that will show up at the top once you post/reply sth

🤙

I was looking at it through the lens of how do we increase post success rate to where you don’t need a notification.

How would this “note posted successfully” notification look like? Same as e.g. DM reply received?

How many OK replies does Damus accepted before it’s marked as ok? It’s possible less fewer or less important relays are returning OK, making it less visible in the network.

I have bad reception and often wonder if my messages were published widely successfully. I sometimes rebroadcast when I think it didn’t likely publish to more than a couple relays.

It should keep trying for every relay until it gets an OK from each one. Its possible there is a bug in there somewhere. Will review again.

#[4] do you have the same problem on wifi?

Added your feedback to the cannot post on damus issue: https://github.com/damus-io/damus/issues/978#issuecomment-1516585143

I don’t have regular access to wifi at present. Been living with mobile data only. I’ll have wifi again in a week or so.

I don’t think it’s ever not sent, since the initial post draft feature and another queue/wait for OK fix went into place. However, atm I have 15 relays, and I’ve not seen an event broadcast to all 15 many times - however with better mobile reception, it’s been more reliable.

I’d suspect it’s likely a mix of less reliable network and app being killed in background before wide sending, resulting in less successful publishing.

🙏 for confirming.

How much data (GB) has Damus

used in your current cycle, and previous one?

#[3] can you add other instances you run into of this bug here: https://github.com/damus-io/damus/issues/978

It’s okay William

I'm just waking up and you already made my day 😂

lol i nearly gave up trying to contribute

let me know if it happens again 👀
