What stuff do y'all buy? What hobbies do you have?
Would you buy the same items using zaps on a nostr app?

Of course and sell them. Recently bought a yoga mate. Need to sell some roto lights and a board game. Waiting on that zap market 🤞
Yes me too. I'm thinking of getting one made but then how can I monetize that? ROI.
Also want to get data on what the nostr demographic buys so I can study and work out what I can profitably buy wholesale and sell for zaps (should be easy to ship etc). I want to see a full, thriving Bitcoin economy. I've sold all my real estate and gone all in. Have just one RE asset left and it is for sale.
Do you need to monetise it? Would it not just be great to have to lower the costs of buying and selling goods. Everyone, you included could benefit from those reduced costs. Centralising platforms monetising their services is over. With bitcoin and nostr, everyone benefits and saves money because of the the value of the open service. This will be the case with the #zapmarket
Well that did cross my mind BUT then what is my incentive to take the risk to pay for development? The time to breakeven would be very high if I were to pay for it. I am not a coder so I would have to pay for it and then that means taking risk for a time to BreakEven which is too high thus negating the benefit, basically initial inertia is high. Altruism is good but not to the detriment of myself. This is why developments in this area are slower and need altruistic catalysts like #[6] for whom I am very thankful BUT is not not unfair and unsustainable to leech off of #[6] ? Surely he and whoever else gets the ball rolling by sacrificing resources (principally money) deserves returns?
Maybe we just wait for someone to create it. There’ll be incentive possibilities for some in places I’m sure, but it is amazing how many people are doing it for selfless reasons. Proper karmic living. And at least humble plebs can now zap some value thanks to those building the tools!
It becomes a game of who shall bell the cat. And it takes Looooong if it ever happens at all.
And to expect people to build to their own detriment is neither right nor sustainable.
Even with open source projects there is a way to earn e.g with Red Hat Linux which got acquired for 2 Billion if my memory serves me correctly.
While I thank altruistic people such as #[5] I think there is a limit to altruism and at the same time where does it start becoming mooching off of them? What about the principles of true capitalism as per Adam Smith (self interest)?
Fair. Maybe I am being too idealistic. Of course people should be allowed to better themselves through their own labour. And they will. I just think something like a market platform utilising bitcoin and nostr could be constructed similarly without a centre. Why would we accept someone in the centre when I can otherwise just shout “I got pie for sale” and wait for the buyer…
It's a good idea. But it is I guess complex it is not like Bitcoin. It would have lots of moving parts and need constant updates/tweeks. So is trying to apply Nostr/decentralization to it the right approach or man with a hammer syndrome? Now I am in philosophical territory of course.
Just wondering out loud.
I buy Bullets & clean beauty products. Here in Miami, a couple of bars take bitcoin. Id love to buy all my home supplies and tactical gear with bitcoin. Hell, i'd like to be able to pay my mortgage and food with bitcoin too but we aren't there yet 😫😫😫
What home supplies? Items, brands, sizes, approximate volume per year? How flexible are you? All details help. Slowly but surely I will find a way to sell these for Bitcoin.
