Saw a great write-up on lemmy about #i2p being the real stealth net since it allows for a wider variety of use cases and doesnt connect to the clearnet by default

Well, every single time i try i2p hidden services i find them to be even slower than #tor hidden services. An example, it took me 31 minutes to sync 51MB for my #Monero wallet. A tor hs would have had that done several times over in that span. I2p really needs a drastic speed boost. If you think tor hidden services are slow, try an I2P 1 and come back and talk.

I promise you, by comparison tor hs are a fucking rocket

I put a static blog on both. i2p is slower. there are some flash elements with ruffle and they take minutes to load on i2p. completely unusable. then I tried putting peertube on both. on i2p it could not load even the tiniest videos in an acceptable time. idk why people seem to have a good time with torrenting on i2p. if they can make that work it makes me wonder what kind of tuning I need to perform in my apps.

I can't even imagine torrenting on I2P. That sounds miserable.

it's actually one of the things that works reasonably well. just gotta be a little patient. I can hit about 1 M/s

Thats not very fast unless you can sustain it. Are you able to sustain near that level? Or does it go up there and then immediately drop down to a super slow speed again?

it took 20 minutes to download the 745 MB file

That seems so weird that you were able to download 700 megabytes in 40 minutes, while it took me 31 minutes to download 50 megabytes of Monero block data.

It's a bootstrapping problem just like with early tor.
