Alternative: live boot Linux from a USB and push your repos from there by accessing the main hard disk.

Completely forgot I could have done this. Great tip.
It's saved my ass so many times. The worst was when I removed sudo rights from the only user on my home server. Pretty sure I had to fix it from live boot.
