How is it different than Iris? Im just so sincerely thankful to have dipped my toe farther into the bitcoin convo. (I also may be lacking a good nights rest for the past 7 years (dad to two boys and a dog π₯΅))

Well, Iris is a client you can use on the web to interact with Nostr. Alby is a utility to enable a bunch of stuff related to bitcoin and Nostr anywhere on the web. Both different things, but they play very nicely with each other.
