So confused right now. 🤷♂️
I owe the dentist office well over $1k for the work they've done on my teeth, and I just got a check in the mail from them for $241. 🤔

Did your insurance come and pay the bulk of it?
I don't have dental insurance and the VA doesn't cover dental for me. The dental clinic I go to does an income based sliding scale for billing, but they told me that I had to pay 100% out of pocket because of how much money I get from my VA disability and my job.
I'm wondering if they decided to wave my fees because of my disabled veteran status. I think $241 was how much I paid for my first visit and that's all I paid them so far.
Well hopefully they did chop the bill down for you, that would be sick.
Something similar with my FSA (flexible spending account) with my insurance. I pay into it, then use it on doctor's copays or medicine or whatever. But every time I use that card, I get a check in the mail from my insurance for the exact amount I used out of my FSA.
So I'm rather confused myself.
