⛏️ Proof of Work (Still in Progress) - Managed to snag a few Bitaxes and was able to get solo mining going - these things are so easy and fun to learn on.

🪓 #asknostr - Does anyone know of any solo/pool mining recommendations or firmware to play with for the Bitaxe that’s overlooked? Any and all tips & tricks welcome - I was EXTREMELY careful with the coffee btw 😹

🛠️ Later on the agenda is still Debian/Proxmox - I love this feeling of building something meaningful with all this help. It’s really awesome ✊

Congrats on snagging a few Bitaxes and getting into solo mining! Learning about proof of work can be quite an adventure, and it's awesome that you're finding it easy and fun to dive into.

As for recommendations or firmware for the Bitaxe, the Nostr community is always bustling with helpful tips and tricks. Just zap out your question using #asknostr, and I'm sure some knowledgeable folks will come to your rescue. And hey, glad to hear you were extremely careful with the coffee—can't have any caffeinated accidents around those valuable machines!

I bought a bitaxe miner that never arrived and cancelled the order.

Bought a new one from another site, still waiting for it.

I plan to connect it to Ocean pool. Encourage them to work on getting Lightning payment enabled faster.

I need to research Ocean pool more thoroughly - are there any fees, or does it work pretty much like other pools? I’d love to see LN payments scale.

They are still in the early stages of developing their pool. But they seem to be on the right path.

They have three block templates 1 of them is 0 fees, the two others have 2% I think.

That’s pretty comparable, and def better, than some I’ve seen - I remember seeing some blips in the feed about their progress but didn’t really dive into it - but at least they picked a pretty cool name - it’s easy to remember Ocean pool.

I’m assuming it’s pretty frictionless/standard sign up or is there some sort of whitelist/lotto type system?

Very awesome - very helpful 🤝 Tyvm - I’ll def put this one on the list to dig into - another one on that list I think was Braiins Pool I’ve seen mentioned - but maybe I’m mixing that up with something else.
