what if, in a calm and free society, the worst people take power, because in that situation, only the worst kind of people want power over others? and the good people then try to take power back, without realizing they are joining in the problem out of good intentions?

that would mean, the Ring of Power, or the desire for power over others, is the root problem of empire.

Bushido of Bitcoin goes into this idea quite a bit.

-I quite liked that book. It challenges the notion that all power corrupts.

Instead it says people who seek power tend to abuse it.

True leaders don’t covet it because it come so naturally to them.
