Texas has become the first U.S. state to buy bitcoin for its treasury, purchasing $5 million worth of BTC via BlackRock’s spot Bitcoin ETF on Nov. 20 as part of its new Strategic Bitcoin Reserve, with plans to later move the holdings into direct self-custody.
