'Occult' just means hidden. I wouldn't use it synonymously with satanic. In fact, it's somewhat the opposite, since satan encourages us to just by superficial appearances.
There are plenty of legit Christian Occultists who have nothing to do with Crowley, i.e. Stephen A. Hoeller.
