Hal Finney's bet on #Bitcoin succeeding wasn’t as crazy as it might seem.

With global wealth ranging from $100 to $300 trillion and only #21million Bitcoins, even if the chance of Bitcoin taking off was slim, it wasn’t 100 million to 1 against.

But why did Hal say 20 million instead of 21?

So early in bitcoin's history it was such a rough calculation, I could imagine he just rounded to 20m for simplicity. Or genius that he was, maybe he anticipated lost coins to result in 20m coins anyway..🤷‍♂️

Agreed!

Maybe he knew something no one else did, years in advance.

We would say that he made a fast calculation and he rounded numbers just to make it quick 🥹

Maybe or maybe he could count too well, so well that he counted with a margin .

Or.. There are more options

But nobody knows that and nobody will know.

But I like your question and I had never noticed it👍

Merci!
