Gold (and silver) and BTC both have their strengths. Although BTC has more there are situations where the precious metals could be more useful. A diversified portfolio should have both. I don't like fiat, but it has its use case as well (at least for the moment) because it is accepted so universally. People do need to keep in mind that dollar denominated investments, like stocks, bonds, & ETFs, will be effected by what the dollar does, so if someone only has dollar denominated investments, they aren't truly diversified.
