our position in the galaxy is moving towards too much radiation and flying debris to be a home for life for more than a few score million years, it's already getting very dangerous

over time, the amount of mass and radiation coming from the centre of the galaxy increases and pulls the disc inwards towards it as well as increasing the damage range of the radiation

this data is just a reflection of the fact that life depends on an optimal temperature and low ionising radiation levels, and that as radiation and debris levels increase the number of living cells on the planet slowly trends downwards, and our sun is starting to get cold enough to be a problem on the margins
