HSA is already available in the US. But Big Pharma pushes HMO because that incentivizes a medicated lifestyle. Spend same $$/mo on HSA plan, stay healthy, and keep the HSA into retirement.
Kinda like Singapore where you acrule a health spending account. You are forced to save but they have no rules how you spend.
