Without weighing in on the drama around the rise of British HODL I do have one observation that's been circulating in my mind for a while:

Crypto youtubers are more popular than Bitcoin youtubers.

I think this is mainly due to 2 factors:

1) Ironically, by being more scammy, they are more relatable to the broader audience in that they are speaking more to pure self interest. At least up until a point where the lack of integrity becomes too obvious.

2) They are more focused on entertainment. Both in terms of the content (they mainly talk about potential gains), but also in presentation. While I love the Bitcoin influencers, and the subtle and sharp irony of like a Saifedean, I do think crypto probably have more entertaining and charismatic personalities overall. At least from a mainstream perspective.

British HODL has managed to fill this market void IMO.

In regards to 1) he speaks very clearly to self interest. And to 2) he has made sure to create an entertaining persona and an entertaining style of videoes.
