His lighning channel partner decided to close the channel, which he is, off course, allowed to do any time. Nothing happened.

That's lame and dumb. Why would you set up a system like that?

1. Lightning sucks

2. You cannot "run your own node" as far as I know because I'm pretty sure lightning relies on a constant internet connection
