I used to think communication was the key until I realized comprehension is. You can communicate all you want to someone, but if they don't understand you, it is silent chaos.

It has to be authentic and intentional communication. If you communicate just to "drop" what you think and you can't accept different views of another, it becomes a "monologue", not an exchange of information and a power struggle. You can't make another accept what you are saying. To understand one must be willing to listen, and answer when questions are made instead of shut down because "you don't believe in me" or think different of me.

Comprehension is necessary for good communication. If you don’t understand the message you’re trying to give, it won’t work.

And there must be a will to try to understand, on both ends.
