One of the most inspiring verses of the Bible to me is Zechariah 4:10.

It’s sweet to know that God rejoices in the very process of our work. Even if we’re focused on a seemingly unattainable end goal and staggering under that weight, He rejoices just to see us pick up the tools in our hands for the first time.

This ties in with so many thoughts that have been on my mind the past several years — that humankind was created to DO things, for joyful work; that we aren’t just one unchanging thing, but that God loves us at all stages of the people we’re continually becoming; the timelessness of God, for whom “a day is like a thousand years and a thousand years are like a day,” whose eye sees the universe and the quark, the sparrows and the depths of every soul.
