It's a stimulus to plant your own chickens
Discussion
I have had plenty of chickens and farming in my life, I prefer to support locals who do it as well as would.
Yes division of labour using locals for that is great
Many in homesteading think personal freedom is more economical and it usually is not. You pay out the ass for moderate advances in independence. You learn real quick that homesteading worked in the past because there was no economy of scale around you.
True, freedom has its costs. Homesteading becomes another job. Like self-hosting
Freedom means the ability to choose what yout day is like. Go ask a dairy farmer if they have freedom.
True, if you choose to be a dairy farmer it's fine.
They can never leave, they can't take a day off. Cows always come first, even below freezing on Christmas, the cows come first.
They are free to stop and sell the cows, the land. Yet, they don't.
Often it is family land, all they know and no other opportunity exists. Also what happens when every single small independent farmer is forced out of the market? We get dog shit corpo food. This is why it is so important to pay local farmers for good food.
Preach it. My fam did it in the 80s. Living poor is actually quite expensive.
