Some of them make me want to look more deeply and appreciate them and others strike me more as snapshots. The mid ground being in focus in the 4th image is driving me nuts and seems unintentional. While the 7th image with the older man being the only one in focus in the crosswalk, near out of focus youths seems intentional and evocative of visual storytelling. The last image of the church were if you split it in thirds the point between the first and middle thirds is the entrance to an ornate church and the point between the middle and last thirds is focusing on the scaffolding creating an interesting visual juxtaposition. When I stop to consider why an image holds my attention for a little bit longer there seems to be a visual story.

I think it’s interesting how making a photo black and white can almost instantaneously make us want to look just a little bit longer. We just lend black and white a bit more gravitas these days.

I remember shooting in black and white with a manual camera early on and getting an image that looked more like an ultrasound image.

I like the crop edit.
