So the French wine coming in, and “we don’t make any taxes on it” - the state where it is sold makes sales tax on it, the profit the retailer makes selling it is subject to corporation tax for his company then income tax for the retailer personally. Now - Trump adds Tarrifs on that, the American customer buying the wine pays that, not anyone overseas. So that puts up the price of French wine for the ordinary American. No one else is impacted, other than it being less affordable for ordinary Americans.
Brain dead logic. Fail.
