As you said , the current (aka hot ) information is stored around the globe by likes of X and insta ..but older information is relegated to inferior storage at most affordable place .. waiting for its eventual demise ..

#bitcoin is so unique in the sense for the first time we are replicating a terabyte of information as is ( except the pruned nodes) .. it is like the librarians of Alexandria dedicating their lives to maintain the scrolls :-). ..
