I guess I never did an #introduction here on #Nostr so here goes. Please boost so I can find some more birds of a feather.
Quit a job running a software security firm to develop open source software (yes, as a volunteer).
Want to decentralize all the things! I give people an alternative to big tech's products and their spying on their customers. I personally build and maintain hardware and software that makes this a reality.
I fight for the user. That means open source, privacy-first software & hardware must be user friendly.
I'm honestly pretty terrible at social media and self promotion, but I'm told I'm a damned fine engineer.
At the same time, I also:
- help run the local #Makerspace
- work in our wood shop
- grow, process and preserve herbs and vegetables
- use Tor, Matrix, Briar, and Signal
- build custom solar panels
- have commercial made solar on our roof
- have a geothermal HVAC system
- have developed cryptographic protocols
- have done security audits on the same
I believe in the value for value model, but honestly I'm really angling for post-capitalism.
In the end, it's pretty hard to pigeonhole me into a single stereotype. I think you'd need at least a half dozen of them to start to get close. And even then it confuses people about how I can support the right to bear arms, environmentalism, fiscal responsibility, and the rights of gay and trans people to exist and just be themselves.
So if you're looking for a reason to dislike me, there's probably something in that list that'll let you do it. If you're intregued about how I can have all of these seemingly conflicting views, follow me and find out.
