You'd be correct, even if the rewards are below par. My thought process is this, I was already paying for heat. Now I'm still paying for heat but I'm mining solo so there's a chance I could mine my own block. if that happens then boom I get to help secure the network. heat my home and make a bunch of bitcoin in the process.
