Algo choice might be ok if it’s per-user (only affects the user who sets it) and not entire clients
Yeah, I guess if the user could set the rules just for themselves. As long as that doesn’t leak into followed or global.
But chances are someone is going to start ranking algos by popularity and some enterprising dev will add it to the client to “make is easy” and another will copy and so on …
Also, if at least one person you have followed zaps, reposts, likes, or replies the “trending” posts, then it would appear that the “trending” is real for you. Only the thing we want to avoid would be bots zapping and reposting a post to fake trend it which you don’t have any association
Yeah, that feels like we’re dipping into dark gray. I still think, notifications for users when they post is the best metric. It’s like subscribing to a newsletter. Not perfect, but you would miss the content or the moment.
