Testing tagging formats in Plebstr:

@note format:

@note1uzumr56c8razwpfykk66t2l6z0wee4cz9wzg5v6jwj3lp68umcjsqlghml

nostr:note format:

nostr:note1uzumr56c8razwpfykk66t2l6z0wee4cz9wzg5v6jwj3lp68umcjsqlghml

seems like only nostr:note format works for now

In Plebstr yes. In Damus you can enter it either way but Damus now converts it to nostr:note in the actual event json, even tho it still displays @note

Plebstr displays the @note format oddly enough

nostr: has some advantages imo: clients can optionally add the appropriate tag to the event, this means that you could mention a person or note without tagging them (won't be notified), choice to tag should be left to users. Nevent and naddr identifiers can embed an arbitrary number of relay URLs so the mentioned event/profile will almost always be available in clients regardless of the relays you use, the spec only allows one relay hint in tags.

That sounds useful but more importantly users need consistent behavior no matter which client they’re using. Right now it is not. I prefer Damus approach because I think it’s natural for users to use @ when tagging anything because that is the convention everywhere on the internet. Then behind the scenes Damus converts it to nostr: format. The user doesn’t care about that. Users just want to know that if I post something on one client, people on other clients will be able to interact with it. Inconsistency like this will hurt user adoption.

True! We are working on writing post part in the app right now, we were not focusing that hard on that in past weeks but right now its one of the top priorities. These insights are good, cause it will just make it better at the end :)

Awesome 💜🤙 I know it’s just growing pains right now for the network as a whole 😅 Tagging notes and people is such an important part of a social network. Not having consistent behavior with these would be a little bit like if web browsers used different formats for hyperlinks.

On a separate note, excited to see DMs making their way into Plebstr 💜🔥

#[5] is cool, a bit rough around the edges at this stage but it’s a good start.

Having a second chance on the Post button is awesome, especially since it doesn’t have autocorrect working well yet.

I’d love to see it display images more immersively. And it needs tagging enabled.

I could be alone in this but I actually prefer Plebstr’s handling of media compared to Damus’s. I’m not a fan of having a meme take up 2/3rds of my screen’s real estate as I’m scrolling. From a design philosophy standpoint I’d much rather clients set a vision that differentiates them from others rather than trending towards the same experience with minor differences 🙂

Tagging is coming, and more immersive images are not planned yet, but who knows, it’s changing pretty quickly everyday 😀

It’s totally fine, we know it’s important and i think you gonna love whats coming 🤙

And DM’s are 🔥

Yes 🙌 Plebstr is one of my top favorite clients and it’s only getting better 💜🔥

So “nostr:” works fine?

Yes in Damus and Plebstr at least.

Ok. Thanks. 🤙🏻

🤙

Nope

Which client are you using?

Damus

Is this what my post looks like for you?

That but with more retardation radiating

😭😂
