Is there a way to get the @ working? It sort of works but never finds the people I am actually trying to @. The only way I get it working is to go copy the npub from their page...

Works on Snort and Amethyst. Couldn't get it working on Primal APP, but it works on Primal Web. Can't speak for Crapple clients.
Strange. It often works on amethyst but never for some people.
many of the clients implement the list of known users by users you have seen recently. far from perfect but it's a performance optimization. I think nostr:npub1xtscya34g58tk0z605fvr788k263gsu6cy9x0mhnm87echrgufzsevkk5s has talked about this how host nostrdb project can help with this.
It should at least look through our follow list. This list could be stored in the app cache.
