Advise needed - a US citizen wants to pay back a loan to a Colombian citizen. He wants to buy BTC in the US and immediately transfer it. If there is no capital gain, is there still fictitious capital gain tax levied or some other tax? #asknostr #btc

There would only be a nominal tax if Bitcoin price goes up is what my intuition says.

Yea that’s what mine says also. Just that I’m from the EU and we have fictitious gains tax on all assets, every year 🤡

RIP, EU. Sorry about what's going on over there.

Yea me too. Been weighing the options but made the decision to move to family in Colombia for the foreseeable future. We were always going to leave before the first kid turns five because homeschooling is illegal. But this general downward trend doesn’t seem to be buckling and no sign of corrections. Too risky to wait much longer. Still feels like moving towards something than away from something but still. Strange times.

Jeeeeeeez, that's wild. Why not move to El Salvador?
