Did you hear the new gospel?

There will be a great war, and everyone will die except the Jews in Israel, and Christians need to support Israel so they will be blessed by God, otherwise we will be cursed. Jerusalem will be the eternal city of God where only Jews are allowed while Christians are all dead and "in heaven."

Am I the only one that reads the bible and thinks this is insanity?

You are not the only one. It is clearly insanity. Salvation is through faith in Christ alone and has nothing to do with the State of Israel.

They have been under God's judgement since the crucifixion (destruction of the Temple in 70 AD, Roman ban on Jews entering Judea in 130 B.C., dispersion and destruction of the Jewish people following both instances).
