I don't know if this makes any sense

Why not?
Unsuccessful people are generally poor.
It's considered normal to have a car, be able to afford food, to be able to shower every day.... all the things poor people can't do that everyone else can.
Imo it goes both ways. The successful are just aiming for the level above what they think is normalcy. After filling their head with fantasies and desires... and social media posts of people living their best fake lives... they assume it's a normal lifestyle and aim for that, while really wanting more
The chase of the dragon. If I just have this one thing, I'll be happy. I'll be like other people.... oh well now they all have this other thing, and so, I too must have that thing.
The way I see it...
Normalcy is an illusion and inevitably we're all failures in some aspects. The measure of success is usually whatever other people tell you it is.
And society says that poor people are failures. No matter how many skills they have, they still failed at life. The aim is to be like everyone else.
Kinda gross tho.
ok. “normal” means what you say, I thought about psychological normalcy
What is psychological normalcy?
Most people think their brains function normally.. unless a group convinces them otherwise.
Being psychologically normal is the same thing... you think the way everyone else does.
So if you're poor and homeless, for example, you'd like to think: oh I've got to wake up early, eat breakfast, shower and get in my car to drive to work ... to a job I hate,.. but success isn't won by doing what you love.
Something to that effect.
