He's been working on DIDs and hopes this open conversation can explore and understand if/how DIDs could be used in Nostr, and what kind of benefits this could add.

Danube Tech is working on solutions toward global interoperability for self-sovereign identity, as well as decentralization.

Npub seems to work well for #nostr.

As do json blobs, and the selected cryptography. From my basic understanding, none of these are superior engineering choices. And yet nostr “just works”.

I don’t know what “DID” really means, and what the pitch for it is. I am open to hearing more.

One of the things that nostr has in common with DIDs, is that neither is yet understood outside their own niche networks, though that is changing.

Thank you for keeping an open mind, nostr:npub1zafcms4xya5ap9zr7xxr0jlrtrattwlesytn2s42030lzu0dwlzqpd26k5. Open mindedness is a wonderful quality, held by many in the #nostr community.

This Monday's open conversation is meant to explore ways that both protocols could complement each other.

#Nostr and #Web5 +DID's share similar principles, like decentralization, self-sovereignty, and control over our data, though each is tackling different problems to solve. Both protocols value simplicity.

This may be an opportunity to welcome builders with like-minded goals, as nostr:npub1zuuajd7u3sx8xu92yav9jwxpr839cs0kc3q6t56vd5u9q033xmhsk6c2uc pointed out as a need for nostr.

From my limited understanding of Web5, their decentralized protocol is meant to be like a digital remote control over different pieces of our identity, nostr being one possible part of it. We choose the access we give or revoke, to what data, and with whom we share it.

#KeyRotation is something they built into DIDs, because they want people to be able to update their information without having to change the DID they have already shared with the people they know or services they use.
