Bitcoin maximalism is an ideology that believes in the supremacy of Bitcoin. Bitcoin maximalists have extreme opinions about Bitcoin at a level of critical skepticism, of deep conviction about the limitations of any altcoin or protocol that attempts to imitate or surpass Satoshi Nakamoto's creation.

Few know that the term was popularized by Vitalik B. in a post on the Ethereum blog in November 2014 expressing the following: Bitcoin dominance maximalism; referring to what is still a fact today, the dominance of Bitcoin over the rest.

Over the years, maximalism in Bitcoin has been glorified and at the same time demonized, they have even classified them into types of maxis; minimalist, reactive and toxic maxis.

In the end, the definition of Maximalista, despite seeming exaggerated, has positive points by guaranteeing the security of new users, and reducing the number of scams and shitcoins.
