In a lot of ways men were taught to be socially dependent on their partners.

The math on this ‘male loneliness epidemic’ isn’t mathing, but that’s cuz there is a twist. If people aren’t coupling then everyone is lonely, men and women alike and I know just as many single frustrated women as I do single frustrated men. So why are we so worried about the men?

The difference is that women are taught to build and maintain social bonds, while men are often taught to ignore socialization and to rely on their female partner for the vast majority of their human connection needs. And this is probably the biggest factor in why men are much more likely to take themselves out at the end of a relationship. Social connection is a deep human need.

Men have been trained to be socially dependent on their partners, and we need to change that.
